A home away from home, where love and learning grow.

Ryan's Family Daycare is a home-based service in Melbourne for children from one year old to school age. Small numbers mean your child is known properly — not managed in a crowd.

Taking enrolments now — a few days still open this term.

What family daycare actually means

Your child spends the day in a home, not a centre. There is a backyard they can be in all afternoon, familiar rooms instead of a corridor of classrooms, and the same familiar adult greeting them every morning for years.

Because the group is capped at seven children, the day bends around the children in it. A toddler who needs a longer sleep gets one. A four-year-old deep in a drawing doesn't get moved on because a bell went.

Ryan operates under Right Choice Family Daycare (service approval number 40001395), an approved family daycare scheme, running an educational program based on the Early Years Learning Framework — the same national framework long daycare centres follow. You get the framework, at kitchen-table scale.

Who we care for

Mixed ages in one small group, which is how siblings learn at home. Each child still has their own plan.

1 – 2 years

Little ones

Your routine, kept. Sleeps and feeds to your schedule, with a daily written record and photos. Please pack meals and nappies from home.

2 – 3 years

Toddlers

Messy play, first words and toilet training, supported gently and at the child's pace.

3 – 5 years

Preschool

Letters, numbers, scissors, sharing and sitting still — the quiet groundwork for a smooth first year of school.

5 – 12 years

Before & after school

Pick-ups from nearby schools, homework at the table, and full days through the holidays.

What the children have been making

Real work from real weeks here. Nothing on this page is a stock photo.

Four large papier-mâché Christmas trees painted green, decorated with gold sequins, purple stars, red gems and navy bows
Papier-mâché trees. Layered, dried, painted, then decorated one sequin at a time.
Two paper drawings of ice creams filled in with red and holographic sequins, each signed by a child
Sequin ice creams. Fine motor work disguised as something much better.
Five Santa faces made from paper plates, red paper hats and cotton wool beards
Paper plate Santas, cut and glued by children aged three and four.
Three kites made from shiny wrapping paper, blue tape and curled ribbon tails, laid on carpet
Kites. We drew the design, taped the frame, then took them outside to see whose flew.

Handwriting practice grids with the letter A traced repeatedly in pink, marked with an orange star

Butterfly craft made from painted paper plates decorated with foam stickers of stars, flowers, hearts and butterflies, with googly eyes
Butterfly plates. Paper plates, googly eyes and a big handful of foam stickers.
Laminated learning sheets showing colour matching, an alphabet tracing page and colour name tracing, filled in by a child in red pen
Colours and letters. Laminated so the same sheet gets traced and wiped clean all week.
Six paintings of the Indian tricolour flag with an orange stripe, white middle stripe with a hand-drawn wheel, and green stripe, each signed by a different child
Flag paintings for a cultural celebration day, one per child, each proudly signed.

Sprigs of yellow wattle flowers laid out on a table next to small foil-wrapped shapes for a nature craft activity
A nature table moment: wattle sprigs collected outside, foil shapes made inside.
Colourful interlocking foam play mats in a rainbow of colours laid out on the floor
New play mats going down — soft landings for busy feet.

Our home

You are welcome to come and see all of it before you decide. Visits are by appointment so the children's day isn't interrupted.

“We tried two big centres before this. Here she comes home with paint on her sleeves, a story about the garden, and something she made herself. That's the whole difference.”
